Most clutch "upgrades" for a Ranger XP 1000 are a bag of weights and springs you bolt into the same factory clutch that was giving you trouble. The Duraclutch RXL for the 2018–2025 Polaris Ranger XP 1000 is a different animal: primary clutch, secondary clutch and drive belt, engineered together as one system.
Why rollers instead of flyweights
The RXL primary uses six internal rollers rather than flyweights. Flyweight-engaged CVTs engage hard — that lurch off idle is the part every Ranger owner knows. The roller design damps that engagement, so the machine pulls away smoothly whether you're crawling a food plot road or easing a loaded trailer out of the shop.
The roller ramp profile is where the responsiveness comes from. Upshift and backshift both happen sooner and more decisively, so the machine doesn't hang in the wrong ratio when you get into the throttle halfway up a hill.
Lower RPM, cooler belts, better fuel mileage
Because the rollers transition efficiently across the whole torque curve, the RXL runs at lower RPM for the same ground speed. Duraclutch rates that at up to 32% better fuel mileage, and the side benefit is a much quieter machine — a real difference if you're driving to a stand before daylight.
Belt pinch is the other half of the story. The system is calibrated so there's no belt slip at startup or at higher speeds, and the whole clutch assembly runs cooler. Less heat is the single biggest factor in CVT belt life, so the clutch that costs you less fuel also stops eating belts.
A sealed shift cavity
The RXL primary seals its shift cavity, keeping dirt and dust away from the rollers. On a machine that spends its life in dust, mud and chicken litter, that's the difference between a clutch that performs the same in year three as it did in week one and one that gets progressively lazier. Less component wear means less shop time.
What you get, and what fits
The kit includes the primary clutch, the secondary clutch and the drive belt. Fitment breaks down like this:
- 2018 Ranger XP 1000 — 3-seat models only (this kit does not fit the 2018 Crew)
- 2019–2020 Ranger XP 1000 — all models
- 2021–2025 Ranger XP 1000 — all models, including NorthStar (select your model from the drop-down on the product page)
Multiple calibration options let you match the clutch to your tire size and the ground you actually ride. Browse the rest of what fits your machine in the Polaris Ranger XP 1000 collection.
Who should buy one
- Owners running oversized tires who are tired of belt smell and slow backshift
- Anyone towing, plowing or hauling weight where harsh engagement is wearing on the driveline
- Riders who've replaced more than one factory belt and want to fix the cause instead of the symptom
- Hunters and farm users who want a quieter, lower-RPM machine

The Duraclutch RXL complete clutch system is $1,599 and ships free in the lower 48. It's a real investment — but it replaces the primary, the secondary and the belt with parts designed to work together, which is why it's one of the few upgrades that changes how the Ranger drives from the first mile.
