Kemimoto Front Bumper for the 2021-2026 Can-Am Commander: 1.5-Inch Steel, No Drilling

The front end of a Commander is mostly plastic and radiator. That is fine until the first time a stump comes up faster than expected, or a sapling you meant to push over goes under the nose instead, or somebody backs into you at the trailhead. Then you find out what a fascia costs and how long the dealer takes to get one. The Kemimoto Front Bumper for the Can-Am Commander puts steel tubing between all of that and the trail, and it does it without a drill.

What it is made of

The bumper is built from 38 mm (1.5 inch) metal steel tubing, which Kemimoto specifies for durability and impact resistance protecting the front of the machine. That diameter is the number worth paying attention to on any bumper. Tube bumpers fail in one of two ways — the tube bends, or the mount tears out — and 1.5-inch steel in a combined front hoop is substantial enough to take a hit at trail speed and still hold its shape, which is more than the stock plastic will do with a sapling.

It is also a complete front bumper rather than a pair of corner pieces bolted together, which Kemimoto notes makes installation and removal easier. If you ever need to pull the front end apart for radiator work, taking one assembly off is a different afternoon than taking three.

No drilling, and a spot for a light

This is the part that sells bumpers to people who have done the job before. The Kemimoto bumper needs no additional drilling: it comes with the accessories and instructions required for installation, and it can replace OEM #715007248. If your machine already has the factory bumper, this goes where that went.

Drilling a chassis is the step that turns a one-hour job into a three-hour one and introduces holes you cannot undo. Bolting to existing mounting points is faster, it is reversible, and it is the difference between fitting this on a Saturday morning and setting the weekend aside.

There is one more feature worth calling out, because most tube bumpers forget it: Kemimoto put an 11 mm diameter oval adjustable hole in the upper center of the bumper for an additional spotlight. The light itself is not included, but the mounting provision is — which means you are not clamping a light to a tube or fabricating a bracket later. If you have been thinking about a center-mounted light anyway, the bumper is the natural place for it.

Who it is for

Anyone who rides a Commander in timber. Tight trail is where the front end collects damage, and it is rarely one dramatic hit — it is a season of scrapes, cracked tabs and a fascia that ends up held together with hardware store bolts. A steel hoop takes that abuse instead. It is also the right first purchase if you plan to add a winch and lights later, since the front of the machine wants a plan rather than three separate improvisations.
