A polycarbonate windshield on a RZR Pro XP is fine until the weather turns. Then you are looking through a smear. Fine dust puts a new scratch in the coating every time you clear it with a glove. Rain beads and runs sideways at speed instead of coming off. Mud thrown off the machine ahead of you dries before you can reach it. The usual answer is to drive with your head out the side of the cage, which is not a plan so much as a symptom. The Kemimoto Glass Windshield with Electric Wipers for the Polaris RZR Pro XP and Turbo R answers it with glass and a motor, and it is $399.99.
An electric wiper, not a hand lever
This is the part Kemimoto leads with, and it is the reason to look at this windshield over the cheaper version of the same idea. In their words: unlike the windshields on the market, this model is equipped with electric windshield wipers. Not a lever you reach up and swing with your left hand while steering with your right — a motor and a switch.
The numbers Kemimoto publishes for it:
- 90-degree sweep, fixed — the wiper is set at that arc rather than adjustable
- 17.4-inch wiper arm, which Kemimoto notes is 1.7 inches longer than the manual version of this windshield
That 1.7 inches is worth more than it sounds. The swept area on a UTV windshield is small to begin with, and the part you actually look through sits high and toward the centre. A longer arm on a fixed arc puts clean glass where your eyes are.
Glass in an aluminum frame
Kemimoto builds this one out of safety glass surrounded by a sturdy aluminum frame, which they describe as ensuring its durability and resistance against harsh weather conditions. The frame is the quiet half of that. A bare sheet of glass in a cage full of vibration is a bad idea; a framed panel is what makes a wiper motor mountable and keeps the edges from working against the cage.
On protection, Kemimoto claims the windshield has great impact resistance, protecting you from flying rocks, branches, and other debris, keeping you safe at high speeds, and that with the windshield and wiper together you can protect yourself and your passengers from rain, wind, and dust. That second one is the real argument for glass on a desert or farm-road machine: polycarbonate hazes over from dust abrasion, and glass does not.
Fitment: read the list, not the title
The product title says Pro XP and Turbo R, but the fitment list Kemimoto publishes is wider than that. It covers:
- 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024 RZR PRO XP / Sport / Premium / Ultimate
- 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024 RZR PRO XP 4 / Sport / 4 Sport Rockford Fosgate LE
- 2021 RZR PRO XP Sport Rockford Fosgate LE
- 2022-2024 RZR PRO XP 4 Premium / Sport / Ultimate
- 2022-2024 RZR Turbo R Sport and Turbo R Premium
- 2022-2024 RZR Turbo R 4 Sport and Turbo R 4 Premium
- 2022-2024 RZR Pro R Sport and Pro R 4 Sport
Two things to notice. The Pro R is on that list even though it is not in the title, so Pro R owners should not scroll past this one. And 2023 is absent from the Pro XP entries while 2024 is present, which is the kind of gap worth confirming against your own VIN rather than assuming is a typo. Kemimoto's own instruction is the right one: confirm your year, make and model against the fitment list before ordering.
Who it is for
The Pro XP owner who rides in real weather and is tired of pretending otherwise. Hunters heading out before daylight into fog that fogs the inside too. Anyone who runs dusty two-track where a polycarbonate shield turns milky in a season. Anyone who rides in a group and spends half the day in someone else's rooster tail. If your machine only comes out on dry, warm, dust-free afternoons, a hard-coated polycarbonate flip shield is the cheaper call. If it does not, a motor and a wiper blade are the difference between seeing and guessing.
