Kemimoto Waterproof Camo Seat Cover for the Can-Am Defender MAX: 1680D Oxford Over the Seat You Paid For

A Defender MAX earns its keep, and the seats are where that shows first. Wet boots, a dog in the back, a chainsaw laid across the bench, feed sacks, mud that never fully dries — the factory upholstery takes all of it, and once a seam splits or the surface cracks you are looking at a replacement bill that makes a cover look like pocket change. The Kemimoto Waterproof Camo Seat Cover for the Can-Am Defender MAX is the cheap insurance: a water-resistant shell over the seat you already paid for, in camo so it looks at home on a hunting rig.

The fabric is the product

There is not much to a seat cover besides material and fit, so the material is worth being specific about. Kemimoto builds this one from 1680D oxford fabric, which is the same heavy weave they use on their cargo bags, and they list two things it buys you:

  • Scratch resistance — Kemimoto specifically calls out protecting the seat from your dog's claws, which tells you who they had in mind.
  • Water resistance — it keeps mud, rain and snow off the upholstery underneath.

Water resistant is the honest word here, not waterproof-for-a-week-in-a-pond. What it means in practice is that a rainstorm, a creek crossing or a wet-dog ride does not end up soaking into factory foam, which is the part you cannot clean.

What is in the set

The cover comes as a bottom cover plus a headrest cover back, so the two surfaces that actually see contact are both handled. Kemimoto's pitch on the fit is simple — it is cut to sit tight rather than bunch, so it is not something you are tugging back into place every time somebody gets in.

The buckle change matters more than it sounds

Anyone who has run a cheap seat cover knows how they die: the plastic buckles under the seat snap, usually in the cold, and then the cover wanders. Kemimoto upgraded the bottom cover's buckles to hook and loop fasteners. No brittle plastic to break, and it makes installation and removal quicker — which matters, because a cover you can pull and hose off is a cover you will actually keep using.

Fitment

This one covers a lot of the Defender MAX lineup. Check your trim and year:

  • Can-Am Defender MAX HD7 — 2022-2024, and HD7 DPS 2023-2024
  • Can-Am Defender MAX HD8, HD8 XT, HD8 XT CAB and HD8 DPS — 2017-2021
  • Can-Am Defender MAX HD9, HD9 XT and HD9 DPS — 2022-2024
  • Can-Am Defender MAX HD10 DPS and HD10 XT — 2017-2024
  • Can-Am Defender MAX HD10 XT CAB — 2017-2023
  • Can-Am Defender MAX HD10 Limited and HD10 X MR — 2020-2024, plus X mr with half doors 2023-2024
  • Can-Am Defender MAX HD10 Lone Star — 2018-2024, and Lone Star Cab 2022-2024

Note that this is the MAX fitment list — the crew cab, not the two-seat Defender. Confirm your year, make and model against the list before ordering.

Who it is for

If your Defender MAX is a toy that lives in a garage and sees dry trail, you can skip this. If it hauls dogs, gear, tools, hay or kids, a $130 cover protecting a seat assembly that costs several times that is not a hard decision. The same logic applies to a used machine you are cleaning up: put the cover on before the next season rather than after the vinyl is already split.
