Everyone who rides rock has the same story. You misjudge a climb, the nose comes up, and the underside of the machine finds a sharp edge you never saw. Sometimes it is a scrape. Sometimes it is a cracked case, a punctured line, or a long walk. Factory skid plates on most side-by-sides are thin and they do not reach end to end, which leaves the expensive parts of a ZForce exposed in exactly the places you land on them. The SuperATV CFMOTO ZForce 950 Full Skid Plate covers the whole underside in half-inch material for $595.95.
Read this before you order
Two notes on this plate that are better known now than on install day. First, it is not compatible with OEM rock sliders — if you are running the factory sliders, they come off. Second, drilling into the frame is required for the self-tapping screws. SuperATV supplies a drill bit in the kit, so the tool is not the problem, but if you were expecting a bolt-to-existing-holes job, this is not that.
Neither of those is unusual for a full-coverage plate, and neither is a reason to skip it. They are just the kind of thing you want to read in a blog post rather than discover with the machine already on jack stands.
What the material actually buys you
The plate is cut from half-inch thick ARMW, which is SuperATV's proprietary blend of UHMW. Two properties matter here and they pull in the same direction.
The first is toughness. UHMW does not dent the way aluminum does and it does not crack the way thinner plastics do — it absorbs a hit and comes back. On a machine that gets used hard, a plate that flexes and recovers outlasts one that takes a permanent shape from the first bad landing.
The second is slipperiness. UHMW is about as slick as material gets, which changes how the machine behaves when it does make contact. Combined with flush, countersunk hardware, there is nothing standing proud of the surface to catch on a ledge. You slide across rocks, stumps and trail debris instead of hooking on them and stopping, which is as much a traction upgrade as it is a protection upgrade.
Fit and installation
SuperATV CNC cuts these plates to the machine, and the design is a patented interlocking one. That is worth understanding because it affects the job in two places: the panels register to each other during install, and they come apart in sections for cleanup rather than as one unwieldy sheet.
Built-in drain ports handle the other half of the maintenance problem. A full skid plate is very good at keeping rocks out and very good at keeping mud in, and a sealed pan full of packed clay is dead weight that never dries. The drain ports mean you can pressure-wash the underside and have the water and the mud actually leave.
Fitment
The ZForce 950 full skid plate is listed for:
- CFMOTO ZForce 950 : 2020–2022
- CFMOTO ZForce 950 HO EX : 2023+
Across the model variants that covers the ZForce 950 (2020–2022), 950 H.O., 950 Sport (2023+), 950 Sport 4 and 950 Trail. Check your year and trim against that list — CFMoto has moved the 950 through several names and the badge tells you more than the model year does.
Who it's for
- ZForce 950 owners who ride rock, ledges or anything with exposed root systems
- Anyone who has already put a mark in the factory plate and would rather not find out what is behind it
- Riders who run deep mud and want an underside that can actually be washed out
- Owners willing to drill the frame once for coverage that does not move afterward
